For the cracked face brick, we used a technique called “crack stitching.” Crack stitching is the masonry repair method for repairing cracked face brick walls and ensuring that they are reinforced. It involves installation of crack stitching bars horizontally and vertically, which are grouted across cracks in walls in order to reconnect and provide stability to the masonry. We also pinned the face brick by inserting stitching bars drilled and grouted into the adjacent wall. We repaired the front entrance wall cracks and multiple areas on the office block face brick walls.

Concrete spalling is caused when the reinforcing steel embedded in concrete starts corroding due to water ingress. The corroded steel swells, causing the concrete to “pop” off of the surface. This can be dangerous as it falls to the ground

For the Concrete Spalling scope of work, the method specified was

  • break out loose mortar to expose the corroded steel beneath, and cut edges to square
  • Wire brush the corroded steel to remove corrosion product
  • Application of Prostuct 680 Zinc rich epoxy to the repaired steel
  • Application Prostruct 528/529 shrink compensated repair mortar

The project was a success and we have a happy client!
